v7.1.16 — targeted stopped-host startup repair
Published October 19, 2026 UTC: release notes and repair instructions.
This package repairs a specific independent-host state: a signed v7.1.12 → v7.1.13 update committed but failed before room startup. It is not a general fresh installer or an occupied-room update.
What changed
The runtime includes the cached-configuration compatibility fix first qualified in owner-local v7.1.15. The new background-profile setting can be added without erasing local settings or accepting arbitrary schema changes.
The pinned repair verifies the expected failed transaction, signed approval, unchanged configuration, stopped processes and confirmed-closed room ownership. It retains installation identity, authorization, catalogs, titles, tuning, ratings, statistics, enrollment and sharing/update preferences.
Using the repair
Follow the exact version-pinned command in the linked release only when the installation matches its documented stopped-failure state. Keep all state. Do not reinstall, sign in again or repeat ownership-clear as a substitute for the checks.
The helper makes one qualified startup attempt. Interrupted or uncertain startup does not grant another blind retry. Repeating it after successful repair returns the existing running result without restarting rooms.
This scoped repair does not advance the global update channel or change boot-autostart choices. Later normal releases can admit the repaired v7.1.16 baseline through their signed update paths.
